Our History

Our history of tobacco producers began in the 18th century.

We are a family business in the tobacco domain since 1791. Starting from when our father Antonio Marino started his international business from Solta island. He was an aristocratic Italian-speaking Austrian ancestor. He specialized himself in the transport of tobacco from Izmir to Hamburg, being his headquarters in Constantinople. Transporting tobacco by sea, he started the trade from the Mediterranean to continental Europe.

His sons Georg and Friedrich took the reins and reinforced the activity. Georg became a tobacco distributor in Izmir. Friedrich, promoted in Law at the Ottoman University of Constantinople, became a tobacco distributor in Xanthi (now Greece). So, after the First World War, they were able to found several tobacco production companies in Germany, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Italy. Thanks to them, Italian Flair has become one of the most successful tobacco production companies.

Our family tradition has always been concerned with maintaining a social position through hard and professional work, throughout the generations. We have always been conservative and have preferred safe results to speculative magnitude. Nevertheless, we survived for such a long period because we have always been extremely innovative. Moreover, we have invested a great deal in our research and innovation in our specific field.
